Radiator Repairers

  1. Premises shall be registered under the Factories and Works Act
  2. An adequate range of spare parts shall be held or be stocked as soon as admitted to membership.
  3. Premises shall include a fully equipped engine reconditioning workshop with water, electrical power and compressed air;
  4. Water and electrical power;
  5. The Employer shall have registered with the National Employment Council for the Motor Industry (NECMI) as an Employer within Industry.

   a) Welding equipment;
   b) Soldering equipment;
   c) Cleaning tank;
   d) Compressor;
   e) Pressure regulator;
   f) Radiator test tank;
   g) Bench and vice;
   h) Small hand tools including sash cramp and saws.

Engine Reconditioners

  1. Premises shall be registered under the Factories and Works Act
  2. An adequate range of spare parts shall be held or be stocked as soon as admitted to membership.
  3. Premises shall include a fully equipped engine reconditioning workshop with water, electrical power and compressed air;
  4. A Journeyman, or person of equal qualifications as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Motor Industry shall be employed.
  5. The Employer shall have registered with the National Employment Council for the Motor Industry (NECMI) as an Employer within Industry.

   a) Crankshaft grinding machine;
   b) Boring bars;
   c) Conrod algning equipment;
   d) Conrod boring machine;
   e) Line boring equipment;
   f) Press suitable for re-sleeving;
   g) Valve seating and refacing equipment, micro meters and other precision measuring equipment;
   h) Reamers and stocks and dies;
   i) Adequate small tools;
   j) Adequate cleaning facilities;
   k) Surface grinder. 

Auto Electric Speacialist

  1. Premises shall be registered under the Factories and Works Act
  2. A Journeyman, or person of equal qualifications as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Motor Industry shall be employed.
  3. Water, electrical power and compressed air.
  4. The Employer shall have registered with the National Employment Council for the Motor Industry (NECMI) as an Employer within Industry.

   a) Shall have a fully equipped test bench capable of handling alternators, generators, starters and regulators;
   b) Battery chargers with hydrometer and battery testing equipment;
   c) Power drilling machine;
   d) Work bench and vice;
   e) Hand or electric grinder; f) Small lathe for armature work;
   g) Soldering equipment;
   h) Testing equipment for electrical fuel pumps;
   i) Growler;
   j) Bearing pullers and small tools for dismantling motor starter;
   k) Lead lamp;
   l) Welding equipment;
   m) Reamers and small stocks and dies;
   n) Headlamp beam setter;
   o) Other necessary small tools;
   p) Adequate test equipment.

Garage, Workshops & Engineers

  1. Premises shall be registered under the Factories and Works Act and are to be adequate wih sufficient covred floor space of not more less than 100 square meters for mechanical repairs.
  2. A fully equipped motor repair workshop, sufficient to cope with any normal repair job adequate range of spare parts and accessories shall be held or shall be purchased as soon as admitted to membership.
  3. Adequate cleaning facilities.
  4. A Journeyman, or person of equal qualifications as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Motor Industry shall be employed to give full mechanical service.
  5. The Employer shall have registered with the National Employment Council for the Motor Industry (NECMI) as an Employer within Industry.

   a) Air Compressor Unit;
   b) Adequate water and electrical supply;
   c) Suitable puncture and repair facilities, including tyre levers and beed breaker;
   d) Chassis lubricating plant consisting of hoist, ramp or pit, power lubricating unit and gear oil dispensers;
   e) Battery and electrical equipment consisting of battery charger, hydrometer, battery filler, and distilled water;
   f) Equipment for attention to motor, consisting of micrometer (ID and OD) dial gauge, compression gauge, (petrol and diesel) ridge cutter, cylinder hone, ring squeezer, spark plug cleaner and tester;
   g) Voltmeter, ammeter, timing light and vacuum gauge;
   h) Welding outfit, electric and oxy-acetylene;
   i) Soldering equipment;
   j) Miscellaneous shop equipment, viz: work bench, grinder, bench drill and stand, stocks and ries, reamer sert, garage jacks, trestles, torque wrench and a suitable range of spanners;

Auto-Glass Fitters

  1. If the premises fall within the definition of a factory under the Factories & Works Act, then they shall be registered under the Act.
  2. If operating from a fixed position, a) roofing cover shall be sufficient to protect a vehicle from weather damage while being worked on, b) the yard/parking area shall be fenced or walled and gated, c) an adequate office/reception area shall be in use.
  3. If operating a mobile service, the service vehicle(s) shall bear the name of the company and be capable of safety carrying glass and fitting equipment.
  4. The company shall be registered with the National Employment Council of the Motor Industry (NECMI) as an employer within the motor industry.
  5. A Skilled Worker Class 4, as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Motor Industry.
  6. The company shall have an insurance cover policy covering public liability and the risk of loss of or damage to vehicles being worked on and breakages arising out of fitment problems.
  7. The company shal sign an undertaking to fit only safety glass approved by SAZ or any internationally recognized standrds organiszation.

   a) Work Bench;
   b) Adequate sets of spanners (socket, flat & ring);
   c) Screwdrivers (flat & Phillips star and Allen keys);
   d) Pliers;
   e) Side-cutters;
   f) hacksaw;
   g) snips;
   h) adequate windscreen removal tools;
   i) sealing applicator gun;
   j) scrapers;
   k) vehicle protection covers;
   l) cleaning materials

Tyre Dealers and Retreaders

  1. Premises shall be registered under the Factories and Works Act
  2. Sufficient floor space in service bay to accommodate a minimum three (3) standard sized vehicles for “while you wait” tyre and wheel changing service and further parking space for vehicles according to the size of the workshop.
  3. A fully equipped workshop to cope with any normal retreading or repair job.
  4. An adequate range of new tyres and tubes shall be held or shall be stocked as soon as admitted to memebrship.
  5. Water and electrical power.
  6. The Employer shall have registered with the National Employment Council for the Motor Industry (NECMI) as an Employer within Industry.

   a) Air compressor unit (or units) of sufficient capcity to meet workshop and customer demands at any time.
   b) Buffing unit;
   c) Retreading moulds with necessaey matrices for the retreading of a full range of passenger sized tyres in normal use;
   d) Retreading moulds with necessary matrices for the retreading of giant tyres, having rgard to sizes in general use in the area;
   e) Tyre repair moulds for all normal giant and passenger sized repair jobs;
   f) Tread rubber stitcher;
   g) Tube and valve-seat vulcanizer;
   h) Tyre spreaders capable of handling all sizes of yres;
   i) Flexible shaft machnies (light and heavy duty);
   j) Giant tyre remover;
   k) Passenger tyre remover;
   l) Garage jacks;
   m) Adequate number of trestles;
   n) Miscellaneous shop equipment, including work benches, hand stitchers, tyre levers, pressure gauges, small hand tools;
   o) Wheel Balancing Equipment.

Panel Beating & Spray Painting

  1. Premises shall be registered under the Factories and Works Act
  2. A Journeyman, or person of equal qualifications as defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Motor Industry shall be employed.
  3. Water and electrical power.
  4. The Employer shall have registered with the National Employment Council for the Motor Industry (NECMI) as an Employer within Industry.

   a) Air Compressor and spray equipment;
   b) Garage Jack;
   c) Straightening and bending equipment;
   d) Sanding machine;
   e) Welding plant, electric and oxy-acetylene;
   f) Power drill;
   g) Bench and Vice;
   h) Body clamp;
   i) Creepers;
   j) Trestles;
   k) Other necessary small tools;
   l) Designated Spraying Area.
